Eric J. Aretsky, managing partner of Aretsky Law Group, P.C., co-founded the firm in 1991. Although best known for his expertise as a New Jersey divorce lawyer, Mr. Aretsky is an experienced personal injury lawyer. He is also a skilled criminal defense attorney, representing clients accused of criminal charges and traffic offenses tried in the Municipal Court system.
An accomplished negotiator and litigator, Mr. Aretsky is also a Court-Approved Divorce & Family Law mediator.

Since his admission to the bar, most of Mr. Aretsky’s practice has been dedicated to divorce and family law with an emphasis on father’s rights.
As a father who raised his son in a shared custody arrangement with his ex-wife, Eric Aretsky has a profound awareness of the needs of other fathers who strive to maintain the fullest possible relationship with their children. Mr. Aretsky is on the New Jersey Courts Roster of Mediators for Economic Aspects of Family Law Cases in Bergen County. This program was created to aid the parties in a divorce resolve difficult economic matters.

Mr. Aretsky represents clients who have suffered a personal injury caused by the neglect of another party. He represents clients involved in car accidents, truck accidents and motorcycle accidents. When it is not possible to reach a settlement through negotiation, he uses his litigation skills to fight aggressively on behalf of his clients in Court.
Criminal and Traffic Defense: Municipal Courts
Mr. Aretsky defends clients facing criminal charges in New Jersey municipal courts. Some common offenses tried in municipal court include DWI and other traffic offenses; shoplifting; petty theft; driving with a revoked or suspended license; possession of drugs; and simple assaults.
Eric Aretsky not only protects his clients rights during court proceedings, but also helps them afterwards. He uses his knowledge of New Jersey criminal law, including recent decisions that affect expungement, to help his clients expunge, or remove, certain convictions and arrests from their records.
Eric J. Aretsky received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Fordham University in the Bronx, New York, in 1987. In 1990 he earned his Juris Doctorate from New York Law School in New York City.
Upon earning his law degree, he served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Conrad W. Krafte, Superior Court, Family Part, Bergen County.
In 1991 he co-founded Aretsky Law Group, P.C., whose main headquarters are located in Hackensack, New Jersey.
Mr. Aretsky is a member of the New Jersey Bar Association, Family Law Section, New Jersey Association for Justice and of the Bergen County Bar Association.
Mr. Aretsky has been admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.
American Inns of Court
Eric Aretsky was selected to be a member of the Justice Morris Pashman American Inn of Court and the Barry Croland Family Law American Inn of Court. The American Inns of Court comprise groups of dedicated lawyers and judges whose purpose is to mentor young lawyers in “the skills of trial advocacy, civility, professionalism, and ethics.”
Eric Aretsky resides in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey. As a father who raised his son in a 50-50 joint-custody arrangement, he has a deep, personal understanding of what other fathers are going through when facing the child custody and parenting issues of divorce.
